Before setting up a fruit processing plant, one should decide its capacity and the volume of production required. The type of the fruit has to be analysed, its area of cultivation, the availability of raw materials, and the season when the fruit will be available in the market. The distance from the market and the transport costs to move the finished product to the market should also be considered.
Good infrastructure is needed. New technology is also essential. Quality of labor also matters in developing a fruit and vegetable processing plant. Capital for machinery is needed. Transportation of raw materials, capacity and efficiency both should be taken into consideration.
